Lucie Safarova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands are expected to reunite as a doubles team at Wimbledon this year, according to a post on the Czech's website.

The duo have been out of action for a year following Mattek-Sands's serious knee injury in SW19 last summer and then Safarova's illness - but they are now intending to return to the court together as they bid for the only Grand Slam that has so far eluded them.

"They haven’t played together for a year due to a series of unfortunate events...but FINALLY some great news: Team Bucie will be back in Wimbledon!" read the post.

Mattek-Sands dislocated her patella and ruptured her patellar tendon in a fall when she was playing a singles match against Sorana Cirstea at Wimbledon last year, necessitating surgery and a long period of rehabilitation.

In the American's absence, Safarova has primarily partnered with compatriot Barbora Strycova, but paired up with Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova for the French Open.

Now Team Bucie will be back in action, seeking to add the Wimbledon title to their trophy cabinet - having already won the Australian Open and French Open in 2015, the US Open the year after, and the Australian Open and French Open again last year.
