MATCH POINTS

The Seoul final will reprise last month's Bronx quarterfinal between Magda Linette and Karolina Muchova - their only previous encounter, won by Linette in an epic 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3) en route to her first title.

Both players are competing in their second final of 2019. Muchova reached the first final of her career as a wildcard at home in Prague in May, falling 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4 to Jil Teichmann, while Linette defeated Camila Giorgi 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 to lift the Bronx trophy.

Linette is 1-1 in career finals, having also lost the 2015 Japan Women's Open title match in Tokyo to Yanina Wickmayer 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Muchova and Linette are two of the 10 players to have cracked the Top 50 for the first time in 2019. Muchova broke the barrier following her Wimbledon quarterfinal run in July, while Linette debuted inside after reaching the second round of the US Open.

Linette has won 15 of her last 17 matches, with her only losses since winning The Bronx coming to Naomi Osaka at the US Open and eventual champion Rebecca Peterson in the Nanchang quarterfinals. Muchova's win-loss record in 2019 so far is 32-11 (21-10 in WTA main draws).

Muchova is bidding to become the third Czech champion in Seoul following Nicole Vaidisova (2005) and Karolina Pliskova (2014), while Linette is seeking to follow in Agnieszka Radwanska's 2013 footsteps to become the second Polish victor here.
