Pegula tops Swiatek another Cincinnati epic, into final

Jessica Pegula's Cincinnati Open campaign has seen more twists and turns than a King Island roller coaster -- but the No. 3 seed keeps finding a way to win.

Pegula’s latest escape? A 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 semifinal win over defending champion Iga Swiatek on Saturday that lasted nearly 3 hours and the Pole’s 10-match winning streak in the process. Pegula trailed 3-1 in the final set before coming back to book a spot in Sunday’s championship.

In her second appearance in the Cincinnati final, Pegula will face either compatriot Coco Gauff or unseeded Czech Sara Bejlek.
