The WTA Tour first returned to India in 2022 with the inaugural Chennai Open. The event came back once again 2025 and is now an annual fixture of the WTA 250 slate. 32 singles players, 16 qualifiers, and 16 doubles teams compete on the outdoor hard courts of SDAT Tennis Stadium.
