LONDON, England - Karolina Pliskova, the leading WTA Rising Star, together with her twin sister, Kristyna Pliskova, have partnered with Virgin Active as their newest tennis ambassadors to help promote the sport of tennis to junior players training at Virgin Active Health Clubs across the world.

"We are very excited to be partnered with such a global and well-known brand," Karolina said.

"Virgin Active has many fantastic clubs in the UK with growing junior tennis programs and initiatives, and we love to use their world class facilities while we are in the UK for tournaments," Kristyna added.

"Tennis is a real passion of mine and it's great to see young players like the Pliskova sisters working with Virgin Active to inspire more kids to pick up racquets," said Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson.

"We are pleased to be supporting Karolina and Kristyna with access to our world class facilities across the UK, during their grass court season," said Gary Stewart, Head of Racquets at Virgin Active. "As young players themselves making it on the world stage, they are big supporters of our junior tennis program and will even be meeting the winners of our Search for a Tennis Ace competition this week.

"We wish them the very best at Wimbledon!"

Karolina Pliskova, the highest-ranked WTA Rising Star at No.11, won her first round at Wimbledon on Monday, which was actually her WTA-leading 36th match win of the year. She's quickly closing in on her Top 10 debut - a few weeks ago she was just one win away from breaking the elite in Birmingham.

Kristyna Pliskova is set to play her first round match at The Championships on Tuesday.

Together the Pliskova sisters have made history, too - they're the first twins ever to win a WTA doubles title together, and they've done it three times at Linz in 2013 and Bad Gastein and Hong Kong in 2014.

Virgin Active opened its first club in 1999 and has since grown to become the leading international global health club operator with over 1.4 million adult members, 14,000 employees and 262 clubs spanning four continents and nine countries. For more information please visit www.virginactive.com.
