NEW YORK, NY, USA – Serena Williams wowed the crowds at the Met Gala with a bold dress as she dazzled on the red carpet of one of the most glamorous nights of the year.
The WTA World No.11, who will chase a record-equaling 24th major title at the French Open, which begins later this month, was a co-chair at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the event.
Dubbed the most exclusive party in the world, the Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Museum's Costume Institute in New York City. Chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief and tennis fan Anna Wintour, the evening has always had strong links to the sport.
Serena co-chaired the evening, the theme of which was 'Camp: Notes on Fashion', alongside Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Alessandro Michele of the Gucci fashion house.
The tennis legend caught the eye with her neon yellow Versace gown, which was decorated by pink butterflies that were intricately stitched onto the bodice. And she gave the look her own unique flourish with equally bright trainers that offered a nod to her tennis background.
Indeed, Serena has been working hard at her game in preparation for Roland Garros, which begins on May 26, posting of social media a video of her working on her serve tagged: ‘#metball prep’.
Serena last played in Miami but was forced to withdraw from her third-round match with Wang Qiang due to a knee injury.
