By the numbers: A look at the Australian Open semifinalists

All of the 2021 Australian Open semifinalists' key statistics.

01 /08
Karolina Muchova's run means there has been a first-time semifinalist in 29 of the past 32 Grand Slams, including an ongoing streak of 11. The 24-year-old is contesting her ninth major main draw.

No.25 seed Muchova had won only one match in two prior Australian Open main draw appearances, reaching round two in 2020. She is bidding to become the 10th Czech woman to reach a major final in the Open Era.

No.22 seed Jennifer Brady has conceded 26 games so far, the fewest of the semifinalists. The 25-year-old lost her sole prior match against Muchova 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2) in the 2019 Prague second round.

Brady is in her second major semifinal, and her run marks the first time that three of the last four at the previous year's US Open have reached the same stage in Melbourne since 2010-11 (Kim Clijsters, Vera Zvonareva, Caroline Wozniacki).

No.3 seed Naomi Osaka, the youngest semifinalist at 23 years old, is 3-0 in Grand Slam semifinals to date, and owns a 2-1 record over Serena Williams - though lost their most recent meeting at Toronto 2019.

Osaka, champion at the Australian Open in 2019 and US Open in 2018 and 2020, has struck a tournament-leading 38 aces so far and is on a 19-match winning streak dating back to last February.
