Welcome to the Tour: Jacquemot, Cengiz, Scott make home debuts

Thirteen players have made their debuts in a WTA main draw this season so far, including junior World No.6 Elsa Jacquemot at Roland Garros.

2017 Wimbledon girls' finalist Ann Li defeated Nao Hibino en route to qualifying for her first WTA main draw in Auckland - and two weeks later the 19-year-old American repeated the feat at the Australian Open, going on to reach the second round.

New Zealand No.1 Paige Mary Hourigan was given a wildcard into Auckland, where the 22-year-old Georgia Tech alumna fell to Caroline Wozniacki in the first round.

New Zealand's former junior World No.85 Valentina Ivanov also debuted in Auckland via wildcard, where the 18-year-old lost to Jil Teichmann in the first round.

Patcharin Cheapchandej won the Road to Thailand pre-qualifying tournament to earn a home wildcard into Hua Hin, where the 25-year-old three-time ITF titlist lost to eventual runner-up Leonie Kung in round one.

Natalija Kostic broke the Top 200 in 2019 thanks to a 40-28 win-loss record, and the 25-year-old Serb held a 5-2 first-set lead over Zheng Saisai in her WTA main draw debut in Hua Hin before falling in the first round.

21-year-old World No.214 Chihiro Muramatsu, who won her first ITF W25 title at the end of 2019 in Bhopal, came from a set down twice to come through Hua Hin qualifying, where the Japanese player fell in another marathon to Barbara Haas in the first round.

Ulrikke Eikeri had fallen in WTA qualifying on 12 previous occasions going back to 2014, but the 27-year-old came through for the first time in Hua Hin - becoming the first Norwegian in a WTA main draw since Amy Jonsson at Pattaya 1991.

Pepperdine University alumna Mayar Sherif became the first Egyptian in a WTA main draw since Marwa Elwany at Cairo 1999, and only the second ever, after qualifying for Prague and taking Laura Siegemund to three sets.

Czech 15-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova, the 2019 Les Petits As champion and junior World No.20, became the first player born in 2005 to play a WTA main draw after receiving a wildcard for Prague, where she fell to Kristyna Pliskova in round one.

The USA's Katrina Scott was the youngest player to win a round at the US Open, with the 16-year-old No.637-ranked wildcard impressively defeating Natalia Vikhlyantseva before taking a set off Amanda Anisimova.

Another 2004-born American wildcard, 15-year-old World No.597 (and junior World No.5) Robin Montgomery, was the youngest player in the US Open draw, falling to Yulia Putintseva in the first round.

Turkey's 20-year-old World No.387 Berfu Cengiz, who won her first WTA qualifying match at the age of 15 over Yuliya Beygelzimer at Istanbul 2015, received her first main draw wildcard in Istanbul again, falling to Polona Hercog in the first round.
