MATCH POINTS

Top seed Alison van Uytvanck is up to eight consecutive wins at Budapest following her quarterfinal win over Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine. In last year's Budapest final, van Uytvanck defeated Dominika Cibulkova for her second and most recent WTA singles title.

This will be the first meeting between World No.50 van Uytvanck and World No.64 Ekaterina Alexandrova. Russia's Alexandrova has won two WTA 125K Series titles but still seeks her first title at WTA level. Alexandrova reached the final at Linz last year before falling to Camila Giorgi.

19-year-old Marketa Vondrousova and 17-year-old Anastasia Potapova have yet to play at the professional level, but Vondrousova did beat Potapova in the first round of the US Open juniors in 2015. Vondrousova was the No.1 seed at that event and defeated Potapova 6-4, 7-5.

"[Vondrousova] was a real star at this moment, and for myself, it was my first Slam ever as a junior, but it actually was a good match," Potapova recalled. Potapova would go on to win the girls' singles title at Wimbledon the following year.

Potapova reached two WTA finals last year, finishing runner-up at Tashkent and the Moscow River Cup. Vondrousova is 1-0 in WTA finals, winning Biel in 2017 over Anett Kontaveit in the final.

This is only the second tournament of the year for Vondrousova. The 19-year-old defeated Evgeniya Rodina in the first round of the Australian Open before falling to Petra Martic in her next match.

Alexandrova and Potapova will end Saturday by participating in an all-Russian doubles semifinal. Alexandrova will partner Vera Zvonareva, while Potapova will play alongside Anna Blinkova.
