MATCH POINTS

Japan will be represented by two home favorites in the quarterfinals, in Nao Hibino and Misaki Doi. Both players own one career WTA title, having triumphed in Tashkent and Luxembourg in 2015, respectively.

Unseeded Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu looks to reach her first WTA semifinal since winning the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose last summer, as she takes on No. 3 seed Alison van Uytvanck.

Top seed and defending champion Hsieh Su-wei faces Hibino, looking to reach her first semifinal since Dubai in February, while Doi faces No. 7 seed Sara Sorribes Tormo from Spain.

In the last quarterfinal, No. 2 seed Veronika Kudermetova faces No. 8 seed Laura Siegemund in the lone quarterfinal match between two seeds.
