MATCH POINTS

Jil Teichmann will play her third WTA quarterfinal, all of which have come in 2019. She won her quarterfinal in Prague en route to the title but lost in Lausanne last week to Tamara Korpatsch.

In defeating Alizé Cornet in the second round, Anna-Lena Friedsam scored the second-best win of her career in terms of ranking.

Before this week, Friedsam had a 4-7 record against Top 100 players in 2019.

Paula Badosa will play her second WTA quarterfinal and first since Rabat 2018. Meanwhile, Arantxa Rus will play in her sixth quarterfinal but has yet to get a win under her belt at this stage of a tournament.

Badosa has won the only previous meeting between the pair, coming out on top, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in qualifying for Rabat last year. She is, however, 2-3 against left handers this year.

Fiona Ferro won her only previous meeting with Liudmila Samsonova. She picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory in Padova in an ITF event in 2018.

Kiki Bertens has a 17-4 record on clay in 2019 and has an impressive 42-15 record overall. She is hunting her third title of the year.

The Dutchwoman averages 6.23 aces per match this year; opponent Jasmine Paolini’s figure in that regard is a mere 0.44 in contrast.
