No.2 seed Daria Kasatkina will seek to make her ninth quarterfinal of 2018 against Tamara Zidansek today. The Slovenian is competing in her third WTA main draw, and her win over Antonia Lottner on Monday maintained her 100% record in first-round matches.

No.5 seed Aliaksandra Sasnovich is tied at 1-1 against Evgeniya Rodina. The Russian took their first meeting in 2013, in the first round of the ITF $50,000 event in Kazan, 7-5, 7-5; three years later, in the first round of the Australian Open, Sasnovich got her revenge 6-3, 7-6(2).

No.3 seed Anastasija Sevastova, champion last week in Bucharest, will bid to tie her longest WTA-level winning streak today against lucky loser Irina Bara. The Latvian set her record of seven consecutive wins in 2010 by lifting the trophy in Estoril followed by a quarterfinal finish in Strasbourg. A win would also put her on her longest winning streak at any level since 2015, when 17 straight victories on the ITF Pro Circuit helped catapult her second career back up to WTA level.

Yesterday saw three players seal their maiden WTA quarterfinals in Moscow: Olga Danilovic, Valentyna Ivakhnenko and Anastasia Potapova. Today, Tamara Zidansek and Irina Bara will bid to join them as last eight debutantes.

Laura Siegemund and Kateryna Kozlova's head-to-head is tied at 1-1, both matches being played in 2016. The Ukrainian took the first 6-4, 6-0 in St. Petersburg qualifying, but it was Siegemund's turn to win on the clay of Bastad, 6-1, 6-2.
