February 2015 WTA Player Of The Month Finalists

Andrea Petkovic: Andrea Petkovic started February with a bang. After winning both of her Fed Cup matches to propel Germany into the semifinals, Petkovic headed into nearby Antwerp full of confidence. In her opening match she would edge Belgian wildcard Alison Van Uytvanck in a grueling three setter, 6-7(7), 7-6(5), 6-2. She would then go on to defeat Dominika Cibulkova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova en route to the final. Unfortunately, Carla Suárez Navarro had to withdraw from the final with a neck injury, crowning Petkovic BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games champion. It was Petkovic's sixth career WTA title and only second WTA Premier crown, but that wasn't the only good news. Following Antwerp, Petkovic made her return to the Top 10 for the first time since April 2012.

Simona Halep: Simona Halep entered the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships as the top seed and was unsure of the added pressure. In the end it did not affect the World No.3 at all. After straight set wins over Daniela Hantuchova and Tsvetana Pironkova in the second and third round, Halep would battle past Top 10 players Ekaterina Makarova and Caroline Wozniacki. In the final Halep would edge WTA Rising Star Karolina Pliskova, 6-4, 7-6(4), for her 10th career WTA title. After Dubai, Halep jumped to No.3 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard.

Lucie Safarova: Lucie Safarova had an impressive February. After quarterfinal appearances in Antwerp and Dubai, Safarova went into the Qatar Total Open looking for her first WTA Premier title. There she would defeat an impressive line-up of players, including Sam Stosur, Ekaterina Makarova, Andrea Petkovic and Carla Suárez Navarro en route to the final. In the final Safarova would beat two-time Doha champion Victoria Azarenka, 6-4, 6-3. It would be Safarova's sixth career WTA title and her very first WTA Premier crown.
